"At the moment of creating a wine, I always expect it to express all its special features, all the essence of its grapes together with the character of the soil where it belongs. A unique combination that can be appreciated in its color, bouquet and flavors".
With a degree in Enology from the Universidad de Chile, Marcio joined Concha y Toro in 1997. From 1998 to 2000 he worked with Enrique Tirado at the Puente Alto winery as assistant winemaker for Don Melchor, and then moved to the Cachapoal winery in the Rapel Valley, where he is now head winemaker.
In 2002 and 2003 he participated in crushes at Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, Médoc, France and at Castello Banfi in Montalcino, Italy. Marcio is a member of the winemaking team for Casillero del Diablo and Marques de Casa Concha, both led by Marcelo Papa, and is responsible for some of the Sunrise and Santa Emiliana varieties.
His great knowledge and experience working with red varieties are the reason he was asked to be one of the winemakers for the Gran Reserva Serie Riberas, Concha y Toro’s Super Premium line of wines. Marcio is responsible for crafting the Carmenere, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, varieties he has certainly specialized in and likes to work with most.
