Malbec

Marques de Casa Concha Malbec 2019

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: Lourdes Vineyard, Maule D.O., Maule Valley,

AGING:

18 months. 75% in 5,000-liter fouders, 20% in French oak barrels, and 7% in concrete eggs.

VINEYARD:

The Lourdes Vineyard is located in the middle of the Maule Valley in Pencahue, equidistant between the Pacific coast and the Andes Mountains. The vineyard is planted on gently rolling hills that provide excellent solar exposition without directly exposing the grapes to the sun.

SOIL:

Granitic-clay soils of colluvial origin with good permeability, moderate organic matter, and low fertility.

WEATHER:

Mediterranean with an extended dry season. This is a relatively warm zone with a broad daily oscillation between daytime and nighttime temperatures, influenced by breezes from the Andes Mountains.
The temperatures this season were higher than the historic average in the spring and summer. During the ripening period, the low nighttime temperatures cooled the vineyards and enabled good development of fruity character in the grapes.
