Blue Carmenere

Marques de Casa Concha Blue Carmenere 2022

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: With Designation of Origin Peumo and Puente Alto, this Carmenere is harvested in the third week of May, achieving optimal ripeness and a true expression of its terroir.,

AGING:

Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, with 30% first use and 70% second use, delivering complexity, elegance, and a subtle integration of oak.

VINEYARD:

The Peumo vineyard is located 120 km south of Santiago at 120 meters above sea level, with an East–West orientation that follows the natural slope of the land. Trained on a vertical trellis with spur pruning and planted 100% on original rootstock, it allows for excellent sun exposure and contributes to the wine’s remarkable structure. The soils, a mix of alluvial deposits from the Cachapoal River and colluvial material from the Coastal Range, offer ideal conditions for growing Carmenere.

TASTING NOTES:

Deep, dark purple in color, this wine captures the pure essence of Carmenere, with intense aromas of blueberries, wild berries, dried flowers, roses, and a subtle hint of black pepper. On the palate, it offers fresh acidity, round tannins, and a rich fruit expression that lingers in a long, well-balanced finish.

SOIL:

Loamy-clay alluvial soils typical of the Cachapoal Riverbanks. The presence of clay ensures excellent moisture retention, promoting balanced growth and high-quality Carmenere grapes.

WEATHER:

Warm Climatete, moderated by the influence of Lake Rapel. The season was cool, with a light rainfall in late January that contributed to the slow and balanced ripening of the Carmenere grapes.

Food Pairing

Ideal for pairing with red meats, aged cheeses, and fine charcuterie, this wine enhances bold flavors thanks to its structure, depth, and balance, achieving elegant and expressive gastronomic harmonies.
