Singapore’s best sommelier visits Viña Concha y Toro
Tomás Tapia, Chilean sommelier awarded Singapore’s ‘Best Sommelier’ in 2024 by the prestigious Michelin Guide, visited Viña Concha y Toro’s vineyards and facilities to learn more about the wines and origins of our Luxury Brand portfolio.
During a two-day visit, Tomás Tapia—sommelier at the Michelin-starred Chilean restaurant Araya and recognized “Best Sommelier” in Singapore by the renowned Michelin Guide—toured our vineyards and wineries, exploring the labels of our luxury portfolio in detail.
The visit began at our Peumo vineyard located in the Cachapoal Valley, where Marcio Ramírez, our Concha y Toro winemaker, presented the unique qualities of this terroir, which make it one of the most emblematic origins for Carmenere in Chile. The experience continued with a vertical tasting of 2003, 2008, 2021, and 2022 vintages of Carmín de Peumo, Viña Concha y Toro’s iconic Carmenere, followed by a tasting of the notable 2010, 2014, and 2022 vintages of Terrunyo Carmenere.
Tomás then headed to our facilities in Pirque, where Marcelo Papa, Technical Director of Concha y Toro, led a tasting of exclusive vintages of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Amelia line, highlighting the great potential of our wines from the Limarí D.O. Finally, he tasted two outstanding examples of Maipo Andes: Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and The Master vintage 2021.
On this occasion, the sommelier was able to visit the new Centro del Vino Concha y Toro, an ambitious must-visit project in the Chilean capital and innovative wine tourism destination designed to showcase Chile internationally.
We thank Tomás Tapia for this wonderful visit, which will undoubtedly continue to consolidate the positioning of our luxury portfolio in the world’s finest restaurants.
