Joaquín Hidalgo degusta las nuevas cosechas de Amelia
Vinous, visited our Quebrada Seca vineyard, located in the Limarí Valley, to taste the latest 2024 vintage of Amelia Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which will be featured in his upcoming report on coastal wines.
Recently, Joaquín Hidalgo, Argentine journalist and wine critic for the specialized media outlet Vinous, traveled to Chile to taste the latest vintages from the country’s coastal valleys.
On this occasion, the journalist visited the Limarí Valley to deepen his understanding of this coastal origin, located in the extreme north of Chile. The visit began with a guided tasting led by Isabel Mitarakis, winemaker for the Luxury Brands division at Viña Concha y Toro, where the 2024 vintages of Amelia Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were tasted — wines that faithfully represent the identity of this terroir.
Afterward, Joaquín headed to our Quebrada Seca vineyard. During the tour, Isabel Mitarakis highlighted the exceptional qualities that make this terroir one of the best for producing world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This extreme origin is characterized by its calcareous soils, semi-arid coastal climate, and the influence of the Pacific Ocean — conditions that favor the production of wines with great expression, minerality, and elegance.
The visit concluded with a small tasting in the vineyard, where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from different plots and both soil series — Santa Cristina and Quebrada Seca — were sampled, showcasing the exceptional diversity of this terroir.
Vinous upcoming report on Chile’s coastal wines will be available in the coming months.
